AMERICAN WATCH COMPANIES

american watch companies graphicSo, the global news talking heads are spreading fear and mayhem as our incoming President threatens painful tariffs, making consumers and manufacturing very nervous.  But, in 1940 when the very first regularly scheduled news broadcast on television, people appreciated and continued to depend on “news” to govern their futures.  But, the absolute driving force for this was NOT a public service, but the medium to sell a whole new level of advertising.

Nowadays, between podcasts, network or cable news, or social media the goals are overwhelmingly about revenue generation.  So, with our next President probably the most proficient guerilla marketer ever in politics, this fearmongering is good for reactive business but not good for the public prone to getting easily sucked own a rabbit hole of potentially fake or exaggerated news.

Regardless, since I was given positive feedback for my creative stock watch photography at the Austin Watch Expo, I am doing a fun mailout to a chosen list of American watch companies to solicit my watch photography services.  But, with this topic of tariffs, it also ties into wondering will this help American watch companies? IDK!

I used DuckDuckGo and gathered several lists of American watch companies, and there was mostly overlap.  There were at least 5 companies that disappeared, probably during Covid.  My list to the right is not all the companies, but just the ones I am doing a mailout to.  If you find this interesting, you might do your own queries and create your own list.

My eight months on Watch Crunch with a mishmash of followings from members around the world, I do see tons of similar watch brands so this little research project showed me some new designs that were cool.  Also, since I have to do a mail out, I  did additional research on whom the founders or executive contacts are, which makes it more interesting.
