Berny AM053VM-A1 – This is a unique and cool watch. BUT, the dome crystal and polished steel case make it impossible to photograph without some sort of errant reflections. Also, the dome crystal purposely distorts the dial for embellished legibility, but, also very difficult to shoot.
The blue lume with the hour hand lume in red is a nice touch. The watch comes with a unique “tire tread” rubber strap that feels silky nice. They also provide a faux carbon fiber leather strap as well. This is now my official Formula One race day watch!
UPDATE: I was so frustrated with this domed crystal, I took it to a high qualified (probably the only independent qualified watch shop in Vegas) and asked them if they could replace the domed crystal with a flat one. After a quick analysis, the jeweler surmised the domed crystal’s only purpose was to make it look “cool” and not a function of the hands.
So, he popped the domed crystal out and put in a sapphire crystal, and now I have a watch I can read the time and most important – photograph!! YAY!!
